Hoegne, België

Epiloque:

When we left on Sunday, there was still plenty of snow to melt and with a temporary cool down followed by warmer temperatures and rain, it was clear that another good day would present itself towards the end of the week. Thomas and I were all set to catch the next peak on Thursday but levels really went crazy (close to record flood levels of 1998), so we ate humble pie and gave it a miss (also considering the fact that we are already paddling our spare boats after the previous' weekend antics. By luck I managed to get Friday afternoon off work so went for a quick solo run down the Upper Hoegne at 85cm. Instead of racing down, it was fun this time to move down slowly, doing some eddy hopping and exploring new lines (also finding some rocks that were not an issue the weekend before?). The river banks clearly showed the traces of the high water the day before, must have been quite monstrous?.

Hope we'll get another episode like that soon!
