Before coming to the French Alps, I already had ideas of running both the Guil and the Ubaye ?integral?, like some of the older WW cracks I know used to do. As we ticked off the Guil from Chateau Queras down to the lake on Monday without too many problems, the Ubaye stood out as remaining challenge. Only problem was maybe the relatively high water level that was still reported at 30m3/s 3 days before. Arriving at la Fresquiere, I think water level was more around 20m3/s, allowing a fun and not too hard run down les Ex-infrans du Haut. Slight misfortune for Roberto who lost his footing during inspection and putting safety on the Horseshoe rapid, resulting in small injury to his head and knee preventing him to continue down on the race course. As Birdy showed that all lines were possible, we should probably just have blasted the entire rapid first time?
