Saturday, with 95cm at Belleheid, first mission was to bin the Upper-Hoegne. At 95cm, this is not the standard relaxing Ardennes bimble anymore but becomes quite challenging and pushy even when portaging the hardest bits, not unlike a good rocky alpine run?
Planning to paddle several rivers that day, not too much time was wasted on contemplating the Cascatelles and honestly, we already had our hands full with the section below. Lots of big eyes and puffing faces when shooting out of the slides, clearly the holidays had taken their toll on the physical condition? After the slides, fantastic grade III(IV) paddling requiring quick moves to avoid the omnipresent rocks and even some holes, with another portage on the Leopold II drop. Everybody was stoked, great level, great run, sun&mild temperatures.

Er ligt nog veel sneeuw op startplaats ideaal om te starten met 100 m sweeuwkayak. Iedereen draagt de cascatelles om uitgezonderd Jörg denk ik. We kijken naar enkele Nederlanders die hem toch doen. Bruno haalt een boom uit de rivier achter de cascatelles. Enkelen stappen in op de laatste passage van de cascatelles maar ik Johan dragen om tot aan het eerste bruggetje. Bij 95 cm waterstand is de Hoegne een volume beek met veel druk die de uiterste concentratie van mij vraagt maar Thomas is in zijn nopjes. De val Leopold II dragen we om. Bij belleheid aangekomen maken we ons onmiddellijk klaar voor de volgende rivier. Op de agenda staan er immers nog 2 beken.
